Lease Buyout, Transfer, and End-of-Term Policies
The team at DSRLeasing.com provides comprehensive, up-to-date lease information for BMW Financial Services. We strive to help you manage your automotive lease effectively.
Lease Buyout Rules
BMW Financial Services allows the original lessee to purchase the vehicle at any time. However, restrictions on third-party sales are strictly enforced.
- No Third-Party Buyouts BMW Financial Services generally does not allow third-party dealers (Carvana, Vroom, CarMax) to buy out leases. To sell your car to these entities, you typically must purchase the vehicle yourself first, pay the tax/title, and then resell it.
- Lessee Buyout: You can purchase your vehicle for the residual value stated in your contract. You can obtain a payoff quote by logging into My BMW Garage.
- Dealer Process: While you can sometimes send a check directly, BMW often recommends (and some states require) processing the buyout through an authorized BMW Center to handle the Odometer Disclosure Statement and titling.
- Fees: A purchase option fee (typically up to $500) may apply, in addition to state taxes and registration fees.
